The City of Henderson, Nevada, located in the Las Vegas Valley, and Frank Maguire & Assoc., Inc. is proud to announce the “Henderson Salsa Challenge” on Saturday, October 14, 2006, from 11am to 5pm. The beneficiary of this festival will be the Danny Gans Run for Children's Charities, which takes place right before the Salsa Challenge. This festival is being created by the same group that produces the annual ArtFest of Henderson each May.
Successful Salsa Festivals are held across the country in numerous cities like Tempe, AZ (formerly held in Scottsdale, AZ), Oxnard, San Clemente, CA and even as far away as New Jersey.
The Festival will be held in the multi million dollar Pavilion in the Green Valley Area just off the I-215. Across the street from the 4 star Green Valley Hotel and Las Vegas' hottest new shopping area “The District”. Which host such business as Whole Foods, REI, Ann Taylor Loft, Chico's, Pottery Barn, Williams-Sonoma and numerous restaurants. The Pavilion is the largest public outdoor amphitheater in Nevada and the first of its kind in Southern Nevada. It is a state-of-the-art venue for the visual and performing arts with a stage that can accommodate performances from soloists to full-scale Broadway productions. Few experiences are as exciting as witnessing live theater, music or dance performances. The Pavilion is also design to host various festivals and events with its multi-use area surrounding the main entertainment structure.
Henderson has the highest median household income in Southern Nevada and is known as “Southern Nevada's
Cultural Center”. According to newspapers across the country and the US Censes, the City of Henderson is one of the
nation's fastest growing cities. Located adjacent to Las Vegas in the foothills overlooking the “City of Lights”, this growing area has a current population of over 200,000 (and growing each day) with a population total over 1.2 million in the metropolitan Las Vegas Valley. Henderson is home to a number of lifestyle businesses such as Ethel M. Chocolates and Ocean Spray. Station Casinos has three hotel/ casinos in Henderson. New homes and neighborhoods are being built on a daily basis, along with new businesses to meet the growing population.
Henderson Salsa Challenge™ is sponsored by the City of Henderson. The City of Henderson's goal is to promote and enhance the cultural arts of the City. Henderson is developing into a City with cosmopolitan neighborhoods, filled shops, boutiques, restaurants, and art galleries.
Promotions and Advertising includes print, television and radio coverage of the Henderson Salsa Challenge. The Salsa Challenge has several Media sponsors who will promote the festival. Plus the Danny Gans Run for Children's Charities will include the Salsa Challenge in their promotions. The Salsa Challenge has the same team promoting the festival as the ArtFest of Henderson and that team generates over $150,000 in advertising/promotions for the ArtFest.
The City of Henderson will be mailing to all residents a special festival advertisement in one of the City's monthly mailings. We will also be distributing and mailing Festival full color postcards and flyers to the Las Vegas area public. Plus we mail and email media press releases and the event is included in numerous calendar listings. We promote the festival website www.hendersonsalsachallenge.com which is linked to our other festival/event websites that receive 1000s of visitors each month and are ranked in the top results for website searches for festivals/events in the southwest. We also send out 1000s of emails to previous festival/event attendees.
Enclosed is the Festival application. Set-up for the Festival will begin at approximately 1 p.m. on Friday, after layout is complete. We will have a several parking lots reserved for vendors next to the Festival area. Maps and more information will be enclosed with the acceptance letter. We have been receiving numerous responses and inquiries about the Festival so send in your applications as soon as possible. Although we try to honor space requests, layout is done in order of receipt with SLR's done first, then by size starting with 10x20, 10x15, and then 10x10.
HENDERSON SALSA CHALLENGE™ will feature over 35 individual and restaurant salsa contestants competing for prizes and the rights for the best Salsa in Nevada. There will be live entertainment, delicious foods, and a “Jalapeño Eating Contest” to see who the “toughest kid on the block” is. With the beautiful setting of the Pavilion and the chance to select the best Salsa in Nevada the HENDERSON SALSA CHALLENGE™ will become an annual Nevada favorite!
We look forward to seeing you in Henderson on October 14th!
